can Garay is situated in the Volcanic Nature reserve of
the Garrotxa; the greatest volcanic region in the Iberian
peninsula and in the protected nature park of Collsacabra.
The Garrotxa is an area of outstanding national beauty
manifesting some of the distinctive characteristics of
the Pyrenees. Amongst its notable characteristics are
heavily-wooded mountains, limestone escarpments, surprising
waterfalls and pools and basalt formations.
Outdoor activities include cycling, walking, hot-air ballooning,
hang-gliding, horseriding and skiing and trekking in the
Pyrenees (45 minutes away).
The old railway track now converted into a network of
pleasant walking and cycling tracks stretches from Olot
to the coast and runs alongside the village. |
